It is with heavy hearts that the family announces her passing in Sudbury on Sunday, September 17th, 2017 at the age of 92. Daughter of the late Adrien and Marie-Ange (née Fournier) Fortin. Predeceased by her husband Raymond Lalonde. Loving mother of Sylvia Chrétien (Ron), Louise Paradis (Denis), George Lalonde (Joëlle), Denis Lalonde and the late Jean-Paul Lalonde. Cherished grandmother of Céline, Nadia, Julie, André, Raymond and Nicholas. Great-grandmother of Simon and Olivier. Dear sister of Gertrude Fortin-Marticotte and Florimond Fortin (Réjeanne). Predeceased by her brothers and sisters Charles, Edgar, Azilda, Marie-Ange, Adrienne, Rose, Fernand and Roger. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Irene devoted her entire life to her family. Her faith and courage led by example. She loved gardening and cheering on her favorite hockey team. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the members of the Community Paramedic Program March of Dimes, the emerge staff at HSN and especially to Anne for her care and compassion. In keeping with Irène’s wishes there will be no visitation. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu in flowers, donations can be made to the Maison McCulloch Hospice or to the March of Dimes. Cremation to take place at the Cooperative Funeral Home.
