GREGOIRE, Ernest Patrick “Ernie”
Our “Tough Hombre” passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, July 31st, 2018 in his 89th year after a lengthy battle with cancer. Ernie is survived by his loving wife Viola of 67 years and predeceased by his son Gary, and survived by Ernie Jr. (Tammy), Muriel (Greg), Donna (Doug), Debbie and Mike (Nicole) of Sudbury. Ernie will be sadly missed by 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Also missing him will be 8 siblings and greeting him will be 4 predeceased siblings. Ernie was born on September 20th, 1929 in Matepedia, PQ to George and Doreen and came to Sudbury in 1953. He became an Inco employee and retired in 1983. He and Viola enjoyed many fun and memorable years at their camp on Lake Onaping. Ernie was a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Church since 1955 and was also very proud to be a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Ernie leaves behind a rich legacy of love, faith and devotion and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We wish to thank Dr. Walton and her Shared Care Team; the Bayshore staff that accompanied him on his long journey and to name a few, Betty Ann Stanford, Jessica Forest, Stacey Moore and Jenny O’Keefe. Thank you so much for putting a smile on his face which helped him to keep his great sense of humour. We are forever in your debt. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury, Thursday, August 2nd, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, August 3rd, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Parish, Sudbury. In lieu of flowers, donations (by cheque only) in his memory, may be made to St. Patrick’s Parish for masses or a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
