The family announces with great sorrow his passing in Sudbury on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the age of 81. Son of the late Thomas and the late Hanna (née Sauvé) Jolicoeur. Beloved husband of Rita (née Ménard) Jolicoeur of Sudbury. Loving father of Monique Jolicoeur of North Bay, Daniel (Lise Landry), Guy (Debra Shewchuk) and Marc all of Sudbury. Dear brother of Roland “Ted” of Sudbury. Predeceased by his other siblings, Larry (Jacqueline of St-Catharines), Wilfrid “Bill”, Anita Booth (Ernest of Mississauga) and Raymond (Audrey of Sudbury). Cherished grandfather of Eric (Valérie), Mélanie (Craig), Jesse, Christian (Mélina), Evan, Martin and Olivia. Sadly missed by his great-grandson Mattéo. As a young man, he was very active in sports and enjoyed playing broom ball and fast ball with his brothers, Larry and Ray. Mr. Jolicoeur retired from Inco after 41 years of service. During his retirement he enjoyed golfing and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree member Council 5005 of Hanmer and loyal Toronto Maple Leaf fan. The family wishes to acknowledge all of George’s health care providers during this difficult time, and thank them for their kind and compassionate care: Doctors, Nurses, Staff on Fourth Floor North, the Cancer Centre and especially the ICU Personnel. In keeping with George’s wishes there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St-Jean de Brébeuf Church, Sudbury. Donations (by cheque only) to the Northern Cancer Foundation or to the St- Jean de Brébeuf Church Restoration Fund would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Cooperative Funeral Home, Sudbury.
