In loving memory of Regina Hertel, 76 years, who passed away peacefully on Friday evening September 27, 2013 at Maison Vale Hospice. Loving wife to Siegfried. Dear mother to Monica Phillips (David) and son Thomas. Reggie came to Canada from Germany in 1961 and worked as a draftsperson for the City of Sudbury until 1971 when she retired to become a stay at home Mom. She was lucky enough to be able to return to a drafting position in 1987 with the Regional Municipality of Sudbury where she worked until her official retirement in 2001. She was an avid gardener and along with Siggy, her husband of 52 years, spent her retirement planting and tending her extensive flower gardens at the home they built together in Long Lake. At Reggie's request, there will be no visitation. A gathering for family and friends to honour her memory will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion Long Lake branch, 220 Long Lake Road, Sudbury on Thursday October 3, 2013 between 1 and 4pm. A special thank you to the exceptional doctors and nurses at the Northern Ontario Cancer Care Centre and Maison Vale Hospice for their exemplary compassion and care during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, Sudbury.
