It is with great sorrow that the family announces her passing on March 12, 2014 at the age of 75. Predeceased by her parents Sylvio and Eugénie (Mayotte) Girardeau. Beloved companion of Magella Lavigne. Loving mother of Robert Van Leeuwen, Joanne Van Leeuwen (Tony Martino), Paul Van Leeuwen (Mary) and John Van Leeuwen (Carrie). Cherished grandmother of Tonino, Vanessa, Kate, Lydia, Paul and Anderson. Dear sister of Jackie Golden, Gerry Girardeau (Marianne), Paulette Pilon (late Adelard) and Gertrude Sukoluk (Vic). Sadly missed by Sylvain and Chantal Lavigne, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gill, Shelly, Tammy, medical day care nurses and all the medical staff who helped care for our Mother. In keeping with Pierrettes wishes, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 15th, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St-Jean de Brébeuf Church, Sudbury. Donations (by cheque only) to the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Cooperative Funeral Home, Sudbury.
