Avis de décès pour Matthew Wolski

Matthew died on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at home with his family in Sudbury at the age of 94 years. Survived by Stefania, his devoted wife of 65 years. Like many people of his generation in Sudbury, he was a refugee from WW2. He was born on July 10, 1922 in Szczurowa, Poland. At 17, he was taken from his family to work as forced labor in Germany, enduring many hardships. Several years later, he became a displaced person who ultimately made the best decision of his life by coming to Canada. He worked hard every day of his life to give his family opportunities, educating three children and leaving an inspiring legacy for his eight loving grandchildren. No one talks about the heroism of the elderly and their caregivers, the fight to live and die with courage, dignity, and love. Thank you Dr. De Blacam, medical staff, CCAC, ParaMed and Red Cross for helping him and his family with your generosity and kindness. At Matthew’s request, there will be no visitation and no service. Remember him as a vigorous young man who gave and asked for nothing, except for an occasional smile.
