It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Valois Roland Fortin on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the age of 85 years. Son of Elzéar (Albert) and Jeanne (Patry) Fortin both predeceased. Beloved husband of Evelyn (Hall) Fortin (predeceased). Loving father of Marc (Rose) of Barrie, André (Stuart) of Ottawa, Pierre (Suzanne) of Sudbury and Lyse (John) of Cumberland, BC. Forever missed by grandsons Luc, Joël and Adam. Cherished brother of Henri and Léo (Ada Jean) both predeceased and Rita Barr of Toronto. Special friend to Letitia Maddix of Sudbury. Val was a proud firefighter with the City of Sudbury for 30 years, retiring in 1990. “Coach” loved his fellow firefighters and enjoyed playing hockey with them into his 70’s. Val enjoyed his time at the camp on the French River and golfing at the French River Golf Course. A special thank you to Dr. Roch and the staff at Extendicare Falconbridge for the love and wonderful care they provided our father during his time there. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury on Thursday, August 4,2016 from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay (by cheque or online at www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca) would be greatly appreciated.
