With deep sadness and sorrow the family of Gerald Alex Rouleau “Chic” announces his passing on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 in his 94th year. Chic was born on July 9, 1923. He was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Petronille Rouleau. Very loving husband and best friend of Muriel Rouleau (née Sabourin). Very proud father of Phillip (Darlene) and step-father to Luke Ross, Jeannette Ross (Ken), late Richard Ross (Judy) and Chantal Sirois (Dan). Beloved grandfather of Chris (Tanya), Jeff (Sherie) and Shane. Cherished step-grandfather of Natalie, Daniel, Renee, Craig, Bay, Quinn, Adora and Brigitte. Very loving great-grandfather to Alexis, Kyla, Nicolas, Jalyn and Karter. Special step-great-grandfather of Elyssa, Logan, Dysen, Hallee, Gabriella, Kinsley and Emersyn. Beloved brother of Valais (Bev) and the late Laurette Brosseau (Dorsina), Ernest (Isobel), Victor (Lois) and Evelyn Rowe (Ken). Much loved uncle, great-uncle and great-great-uncle to many. He will be deeply missed by his beloved “Abou”. Chic was a proud member of the Legion Branch 503 in Levack/Onaping for over 55 years. He fought in WWII in Italy, assisted with the Liberation of Holland and spent the last year of his service with the Occupational Forces in Germany. After returning from the war, Chic worked for the CPR for 42 years. Chic built his “paradise” on the Spanish River to enjoy his two passions, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed having his family and friends there with special mention to his buddy Jacko Pelland who spent many years enjoying these passions and their friendship. Chic loved to dance and was often referred to as “Fred Astaire” by family and friends. The family would like to thank the Elizabeth Centre, especially Lloyd Banks, Leanne Pelletier, Bobbie Walker and Michelle Howard who were always there for Chic and the family. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury on Friday, November 18th, 2016 from 1-4 p.m. A service under the auspices of the Onaping Falls Legion Branch # 503 will follow at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
