It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Aurel at his cottage in Azilda, Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the age of 62 years. Beloved husband of Angèle (née Landry) Tourigny of Val Caron. Son of the late Oscar and the late Cécile (née Savignac) Tourigny. Loving father of Shane Whitford (Madeleine) of Garson and cherished grandfather of Cameron Whitford. Dear brother of André (Réjeanne) of Sudbury and Roger (Denise) of Hanmer. Predeceased by his siblings Annette Lynds (Pete of Moncton, N.B) and Léo (Laurette of Hanmer). Loving son-in-law of Bernard and Elise Landry of Wahnapitae and brother-in-law of Monique Sabourin (Jacques) of Coniston, Murielle Landry (Yvan Lussier) from la Province de Quebec, Carmen Sauvé (Marcel) of Val Caron, Nicole Landry of Hanmer, Alain Landry (Donna) of Sudbury and Gisèle Veilleux (Gilles) of Espanola. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts and uncles, friends, co-workers, his customers at Val Caron Home Hardware Building Centre and his buddies at Whitewater Lake. Aurel is also predeceased by his canine companions Candy and Cocotte. Aurel had the ‘joie de vivre’, he lived life to its fullest with heart felt laughter. Aurel mostly loved spending time with his wife at the cottage enjoying the outdoors, boating, quading, building, tinkering, innovating electronics or just relaxing. Aurel also had a passion for photography as he worked at Sooter Studios and eventually having his own business Cooky Photography. Aurel had an ear for music and enjoyed tuning instruments for Yves Paquettes Piano and Organs. Aurel worked at INCO for 7 years and has been working in the hardware Industry for the past 34 years. As per Aurel’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 4570 St-Joseph St, Hanmer, Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Ste-Marguerite d’Youville Church, Val Thérèse.
