It is with great sorrow that the family announces her passing in Sudbury on Sunday, September 24th, 2017 at the age of 77. Daughter of the late Friedrich Gottschalk and of the late Johanne Gottschalk (Nagel) and step-daughter of the late Helmut Schleicher. Beloved wife of the late Josef Palkovits. Beloved mother of Michael (Jo-Anne), Ralph, Robert (Sylvie), Frank (Christine Caveen), Mark (Kathy Kumar-Palkovits), Brian (Melanie Tomaz) and Karen Palkovits-Stauber (Aaron). Cherished grandmother of Kate, Sam, Mathieu (Kendra), Dani (Gerry), Michèle (Daniel), Olivier, Justin, Alexander (Shaelynn), Adam, Jessica (Scott), Sarah (Brandon), Taylor, Jacob, Liam and great-grandmother of Félix and Jay. Loving sister of Hannelore, Heide, Helmut and Gaby and dearest friend of the late Judy McIntyre. Sadly missed by many close nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Renate was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She was incredibly gracious and compassionate, and cherished kindness above all else. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and was keenly interested in many things, especially history. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at HSN, ICU unit. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury on Saturday, September 30th, 2017 from 12 to 2 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made by cheque or online to a charity of your choice.
