With heavy hearts, the Blanchette family announces the passing of Gérard “Gerry” Blanchette at Health Sciences North on September 11, 2022, surrounded by his family. Gerry considered himself very lucky and honoured to have had an inspiring life and love with his late wife Gisèle Blanchette. Loving and devoted father to Marc (Rachelle) Blanchette, Lianne (Roger) Blanchette-Giroux and Joanne Blanchette. Proud grandfather of Nicole Blanchette and doting great-grandfather of Sylas Violette. Son of the late Wilfred Blanchette and and late Clara Charbonneau. Loving brother to Roger (Jeanette) Blanchette, Robert Blanchette, Ernest (Fernande) Blanchette, Jeanette (William) Lenuik, Romuald (Sylvia) Blanchette and Roland (Denise) Blanchette. Uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews, whom he loved a lot! Gerry worked as a Stationary Engineer working for Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company of Canada (BI&I) until he retired. Working for BI&I gave Gerry the opportunity to travel all over and returned home to tell his family about his adventures, which, lead to Gerry and Gisèle travelling to wonderful and great places like Bahamas, Alaska, Holland, Australia, New Zealand and Costa Rica. Gerry enjoyed traveling so much so that after the passing of the love of his life, he went on an adventure with his brother-in-law Gaetan (Helen) Beaudry to Costa Rica. Gerry was very close to his in-laws Louise (Rick) Smith and Diane (Brian) Thibault who were there for him till the end. Gerry will be so incredibly missed by all! In lieu of flowers, we would like to invite you to make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date.
