Avis de décès pour Dr. Ronald T.J. Lafrenière

LAFRENIERE, Dr. Ronald T. J.
Sept 8, 1944 - Feb. 11, 2018

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ron on Sunday, February
11, 2018 at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, B.C., with his family by his
side, after a long illness battling cancer. He leaves behind his wife
Margaret (nee Hallett), his son Richard (Candace), daughter Marie (Jason)
sister, Helene (Andre) and brother, Gerry and four grandchildren, Jack,
Jeffrey, Genevieve and Madeleine. He is predeceased by his parents and two
brothers Robert and Leo. Ron was an avid reader and loved to cook and try out new recipes. Summers were spent at the cottage at Orr Lake were he would do his pig roast and the children would enjoy the outdoors playing and swimming in the lake. He loved to explain things, so just ask a question and you would be guaranteed a good explanation. Once when asked why he was teaching himself to type, his response was "self-improvement". This explained it all about Ron, his
quest for knowledge and never being satisfied by what he knew as there was
always more to learn. Ron spent many years working at Gorge Road Hospital in Victoria where he set-up the Acquired Brain Injury Clinic with the help of Dr. A. Hern. He will be fondly remembered by all the staff at Victoria General Hospital where the program is now highly regarded. His motto was to treat patients as we
would like ourselves to be treated. Ron was an extremely humble and kind man who will be missed by his family and all who had the opportunity to get to know him. Cremation has been done and interment will be held in Sudbury at a later
date. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
